Flourish
2024
Flower petals emerge from the eye as a symbol of resilience and adaptation. Just as blossoms continue to grow through storms, this piece reflects the ability to flourish despite hardship. The imagery is a tribute to the blindness community — honoring how visual impairment reshapes perspective, yet reveals new strength, beauty, and ways of seeing. Click for audio description.
This painting shows a close-up of the left side of a face, focusing on one bright green-blue eye and the lips below it. From the eye, petals and flower-like shapes burst outward, painted in shades of blue and turquoise with darker outlines. They look as if they are growing directly from the eye, turning tears into blossoms. The lips are painted with the same tones, with textured strokes and drips flowing down, blending into a stormy background of gray, black, and blue. The overall mood is both emotional and strong, symbolizing resilience — beauty flourishing even through challenge.
Medusa
2024
Medusa is about reclaiming the power of our inner vision, her story has always been about how others fear her gaze, but I see it as a reminder that true sight doesn’t come from our eyes, it comes from within. Inner vision is the strength to redefine how were seen, the courage to flourish despite being misunderstood, and the wisdom to know thet losing one kind of sight can awaken a deeper one. *Clickto expand
This 24 by 60-inch vertical painting uses a palette of gold, gray, and black. A feminine face resembling Medusa is centered, her glossy black lips slightly parted as she looks out at the viewer. Golden snakes coil around her head like a living crown, their detailed scales catching light and shadow. The luminous gold against the darker tones heightens her presence — powerful, mysterious, and commanding.

Close Up - Mermaid
2024
As part of my up close composition style, I chose a mermaid because I’ve always felt drawn to their sense of mystery and resilience. Mermaids live between two worlds, and I connect to that feeling — navigating my own life with low vision while still finding beauty and strength beneath the surface. * Click for audio description
The painting begins just below the mermaid’s eyes, showing only her jawline and lips. Her neck leads down to her chest, where a pink seashell bra covers her breasts, shaded with depth and movement. Her ribcage and stomach are painted in layered strokes of blue and white, giving a sense of structure and flow. The composition ends at her hips, where golden scales shimmer across her sides, marking the transition to her mythical tail
Metamorphosis
2023
Metamorphosis symbolizes the beginning of my art journey. This painting shows half of a feminine face with glossy black lips, while a butterfly-like wing rises from where the eye would be. Smaller golden eye-shapes float upward, and together the forms create the impression of a butterfly in flight. For me, this work represents transformation — moving through a cocoon phase when I could not create, and finally emerging with the freedom to express myself through art. *Click for audio description
The narrow painting depicts half of a feminine face, with glossy black lips and butterfly wing like structures made up of smaller eye like shapes, the shapes ar gold, adding a metallic shine.
Closer to Death
2024
Closer to Death reflects on loss and resilience. The figure holds a skull in her hand, symbolizing the parts of ourselves we must release. For me, this connects to vision loss — the grief of losing aspects of independence and identity. Yet her steady, determined gaze reminds us that even in loss, strength and perseverance remain.
This grayscale painting shows the left side of a feminine face. Her expression is intense, with bright eyes framed by smoky makeup. Black tears streak down her cheek. In her left hand, palm facing upward, she holds a skull that rests delicately against her side, its hollow eye sockets visible. The stark contrast of her luminous face, the tears, and the skull creates an atmosphere of confrontation with mortality, strength, and acceptance.
